Coming Soon To Cochrane: A New High Performance Training Centre

P3 Sports, High Performance Hockey Training and Development

Cochrane, Alberta – P3 Sports is a hockey development company based out of Cochrane, that trains and develops high performance hockey players. They are opening a brand new 2,500 square foot High Performance Training Centre at Spray Lakes Sawmills Family Sports Centre.  The new state of the art training centre is slated for completion sometime in April.

Local hockey players that have gone through the Cochrane Minor Hockey System currently training with P3 are players such as; Austin Fyten, Texas Stars, AHL, Tyler Wong, Lethbridge Hurricanes, WHL, Cole Noble, Canmore Eagles, AJHL, Andrew Fyten, Calgary Hitmen, WHL, Hannah Olenyk, U of A Pandas, CIS, Austin Wong, Okotoks Oilers, AJHL, and many more up and comers who are members of the Cochrane Rockies, Bow Valley Timberwolves, Airdrie Xtreme, AC Avalanche, and CFR Bisons.

“We have been working with high performance athletes and teams on and off the ice for the past 7 years,” stated President, Ryan Hilderman. “For the past 5 years, we have been training them in our current space which is 800 square feet.  While we’ve been able to maximize the results in our athletes, we still found limitations in the smaller space.”

“The new facility will essentially be a scaled up version of where we are now,” Hilderman continues. “We are finding we just need a little bit more of everything as we grow, and as our athletes grow.  We are able to add a few things that will allow us to work with players of all ages and levels on their hockey skills right in the facility.”

A synthetic ice pad will be part of the new space, that will include a shooting gallery with a radar gun to measure shot velocity, as well as target shooting, stick handling and goalie specific training.  According to Hilderman, “this was something we really wanted to have the space to incorporate into our Training Systems.  It’s another way we can work with the athletes on specific skills without them incurring the cost of renting the ice.”

The new space will also be available for the public to rent out for hockey themed birthday parties.  A large, inflatable mini-stick rink will be set up, along with access to the shooting gallery with the radar gun and target shooting.

“We’re really excited to get in there and start working with athletes and teams, and share the facility with the community,” Hilderman stated. “I think the whole expansion is great for the town and we are fortunate and happy to be able to be a part of it.”
