Penny DeJager
Is a passionate health practitioner who thrives on helping others to reach their full potential. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Kinesiology, Diploma in Massage Therapy and Diploma in Natural Nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. As a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant/Coach, Penny works at No Shoes Nutrition offering personalized nutrition plans and group coaching programs that educate and support discovering the healing powers of eating natural, whole, and good quality food. She addresses the whole body connecting the symptoms people are experiencing to nutritional imbalances in key body systems. Proper gut health is vital to helping the rest of the body to function efficiently.

Megan Barefoot
Graduated with a BSc. in Science from the University of Windsor and worked in downtown Calgary as a professional geologist for nearly ten years. After having children, she discovered the power of nutrition to get herself and her family to optimal health. She attended and graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York where she learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques and over 100 dietary theories. She also studied at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, the most established science based Canadian natural health school, where she learned to connect the symptoms experienced to the systems of the body and then balance the systems through whole foods to help clients achieve their health goals. Most recently Megan trained with Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride to become a Certified Gut and Psychology Syndrome Practitioner. While studying and working with clients to change their intestinal health Megan has become a lover of all foods that feed the microbiome and love to introduce clients to “gut goodies”. As a nutrition expert, mom and seasoned practitioner Megan knows how difficult eating ‘healthy’ can be in real-life. Megan strives to make the process of learning how to feed you and your body’s needs as simple as possible with small changes that make a BIG impact.

What is Holistic Nutrition?

No Shoes Nutrition addresses each individual athlete as a unique biochemical being. As their nutrition coach it is our role to educate and support athletes giving them proper nutrition guidance to help them to achieve success in their sport. We can work with athletes to help them maximize their energy, support for short and long-term recovery, remedy sleep issues, injury prevention and ensure proper hydration. All of these factors will maximize their performance potential.

No Shoes Nutrition can provide specific meal plans and recipes to help to achieve the athlete’s goals. Addressing the issue of ideal weight and strength for young athletes is important to make sure it is accomplished in a healthy way. We address specific symptoms that may indicate imbalances in their key body systems. We provide support to the root of what may be holding the athlete back from reaching their full potential. We strive to provide a solid science-based approach of fueling the body of the athlete now and into their future, to ensure they are reaching their performance goals.

No Shoes Nutrition offers 1:1 Nutrition Counselling/Coaching as well as Group programs. Appointments can be offered in person or online. We are available for workshops and seminars to educate athletes on specific topics as needed.
