Kozak Cup Spring Hockey Classic

The 5th Annual Kozak Cup Spring Hockey Tournament is named after Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee and Director of Coach Development for P3 Sports Inc, Wally Kozak.  Widely regarded by many as one of the greatest Technical Coaches in the game, Coach Kozak’s greatness goes far beyond his accomplishments on the ice and behind the bench.  A former member of Canada’s National Team Coached by Father David Bauer, where emphasis was placed as much on the development of the person as the player, Wally quickly saw the value of having ‘perspective’ in the game.

Through his many years of Coaching and many Championships, including Olympic Gold Medals, Spengler Cups, Provincial and National Championships, and despite his knowledge of the game and ability to teach, his players remember him most for his unwavering belief that sports are simply a vehicle to help us become better teammates, better leaders and better people!

Coach Kozak brings those values to P3 Sports Inc. and we are forever grateful for having him an integral part of our Team of Coaches and Coach Mentors!

Let’s Talk Hockey

A number of opportunities will be available for parents and coaches to join our professional, highly regarded speakers as they engage in topics focused on youth in minor hockey. (Our professional speakers are donating their time and any contribution you make during the presentation will go toward the Build Them Up Charity) Speakers schedule Friday / Saturday- TBA

Morris Lukowich, Former NHL All Star

Effective Communication: Power Language for Empowered Coaching and Parenting

This “effective communication talk” is delivered by former NHL All-Star Morris Lukowich (Aeros, Jets, Bruins and Kings) and focuses on 7 areas of communication that can be empowering our players to success or disempowering our players and sabotaging their success….quite often accidentally sabotaging!!! This talk has helped hundreds of Coaches and Parents learn to identify ineffective communication that is many times “hand-cuffing” our players and eventually causing “player paralysis” (that is basically where the player stops trying because it is impossible for him/her to make everyone happy!!)

This talk is designed to give “communication tools” to the Coaches and the Parents/Grand Parents that can deliver a consistent and certain message that empowers player’s performances. We will have fun together and Morris always enjoys an active Q&A!

Bob Wilkie, I Got Mind Inc

I Am… I Can… I Will..

Bob Wilkie is a former professional hockey player.  For over 20 years, Bob founder of I Got Mind, has been helping young athletes and their families navigate elite athletics. One question for everyone (players, parents and coaches alike)… Are You Having Fun?? The demand and pressure of elite sports is only getting more intense. The competition is stronger, the challenges greater, and the push to be a single sport athlete is beginning at a very young age. All of these factors can do irreparable damage. The effects can be long lasting. They can tear families apart. It is the ignorance, the lack of knowing how to deal with the pressures that is the cause.

I Got Mind is dedicated to helping in any way that we can. Our mission is to educate and prepare the athletes, and the parents of the athletes. It is not about changing the game, it is about educating yourself so that you and your family can create a more positive experience.
